What is the DEAL with Sarah Palin?

On the soapbox, here I go.

What is the deal with the public’s interest in Sarah Palin. It’s unbelievable she was nominated in the first place (and also kind of silly how uninformed the media outlets really are when it comes to investigative journalism) but it seems that the attacks and spotlight are on her than on McCain now. I’m seeing newsthreads all over stating her position on political issues – poor Biden (who is one passionate dude) doesn’t get as much coverage as he deserves.

It’s unbelievable how stupid the American public is. It seems – from all the commotion around Palin’s nomination – that people just want to emotionally connect with the candidates. That’s it. I remember watching a Youtube video of Gabriel Iglesias talking about how to get more voters out. Make the Presidential contest an American Idol spectacle and get people to vote via SMS and you’re done. Palin is a perfect representative of an actress you’d want to see on a show like that.

Religulous will be good but – as usual – will not get the attention it deserves. Kid Rock and his nationalistic anthems will, however.

My third attempt at “blogging”. It use to be that people kept private diaries. Now it’s about social acceptance this blogging thing. My reason? To share my discoveries on what I think is interesting. To gripe about the things that bother me. To bore the world with some emotions that may affect me from time to time.

Let’s see how far I get this time around – third time’s a charm!

I was born in the suburbs of Chicago, IL and lived there until I was 10 (I think). Parents moved to Houston and, of course, I had to go with them. Lived there for a few years and then we moved to…Saudi Arabia. Didn’t believe it when my father told me. He brought a World Map to prove to me that there was, in fact, a city called Jeddah. Lived there for a few years.

Went to boarding school in Switzerland (Leysin American School) for a year (10th grade). Parents then moved back to Houston where I finished high school.

Went to college for a year at UC Davis. Transferred to UT Austin in Austin, Texas and did a few years there. Moved to Dallas for a year and half (2002 I think). Moved back down to Houston in the Fall of 2003 (after spending one month back in Austin).

Moved to Calcutta/Kolkata, India in March 2004 where I founded a little Internet company named Tripod Computing. Exactly four year laters, I moved back to the US this time settling in the Bay Area (Millbrae) and worked at Social Media Networks, a pioneer in the field of social advertising. Now hacking on experiments (mostly in the constantly changing world of mobile and social apps).

That pretty much sums it up. And now the story begins…
